PROBLEMS

  • Total Harmonic Distortion more than TNERC requirement.

OBSERVATIONS

After conducting Power quality Audit in the plant following observations are made.

  • Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) current is 17.50 %.

  • THD voltage is 5.30 % .

  • Power factor is 0.976

  • The 3rd ,5th , 7th and 11th Harmonics  are predominant.

SOLUTION

Digitally controlled Active Harmonic Filter Bank to control THDI & THDV.

Project Implementation

Design, Manufacturing & Installation of Digitally controlled Active Harmonic filter banks of 150 A , 440 V , 3ph,4 wire at main incomer.

RESULT

  • THDI & THDV reduced to < 2.5 % & 2.1 % from initial value of 17.50 %  & 5.3 % respectively after Installation of Harmonic Filters.
  • Power Factor Improved to 0.996 .
  • Plant Comply with Tamil Nadu Electricity and Regulatory Commission (TNERC) requirement of Harmonic Distortion and Saved 15 % monthly penalty.
